iPod Touch 4th Generation with iOS 5 Review

I recently updated my arsenal of awesomeness by finally acquiring the new iPod Touch 4th Generation with iOS 5! I really liked the upgrades from my older 3rd generation device. I got the new white version which came with a pre-installed version of the new iOS 5 software upgrade. One of the cool features about the new software was the new notification center. This can be viewed by swiping from the top to the bottom of the device. It shows the weather, stocks, and other news notifications and app alerts. Then when you swipe back up, it goes back to what you were doing. Another awesome feature is iMessage, which allows you to use the iPod to text for free to other Apple devices. This includes iPads, iPhones, and other iPods. This of course only works while connected to WiFi. Another software related upgrade is the addition of Facetime to be able to do a video chat to other apple products including other iPods, iMacs, iPhones, iPads, and Macbooks. This is of course possible with the new camera on the front of the iPod. Also, there is a camera on the other side of the iPod for picture taking purposes, something that wasn’t included in the 3rd generation iPod. Now its time for my opinion. While I do enjoy the software updates, there still is minor crashing problems on some of the larger applications, something that the new iPhones have improved. Also, I do really enjoy the flat bottom, which I like more than the curved bottoms since it doesn’t spin when you put it down like the older iPods. Also, I thought that it would be pretty amazing if they brought Siri to the iPod but so far, it seems that its is exclusive to the iPhone 4S. So overall, its a great device which is great for using to have fun and listening to music, but beware of larger applications that may not work due the heavy processing needed.
